It’s taken years and years of dreaming, being afraid, finding courage to try, fucking things up, learning from those mistakes. But here I am, nearly done with my day job and starting to create my new life.
This morning I sent invoices to a couple of my first freelance clients. This afternoon I started building this website. It’s not perfect (arrrrrrgh, it’s not perfect, nooooooooo) but one thing I’ve learned from all those years of trying is to stop letting my perfectionism hold me back. No, the site isn’t perfect. It isn’t even remotely complete. But it’s a start.
And for today, making that start was exactly what I needed to do.
So I’m going to try to let all the imperfections go (deep breath, Ann, deep breath), knowing that I will come back to this work tomorrow.
For now, it’s time to crack open an IPA and turn my attention to another important task on this lovely rainy day: conquering Mt. Laundry. Fortunately, I have no fear of yetis.
